Thanks for the update on that.Adam Silfvenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04284783773009028499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5937553510945482646.post-78356032233151113402007-09-15T19:09:00.000-07:002007-09-15T19:09:00.000-07:00I doubt it was an LMD or even a Skrull. I'm prett...I doubt it was an LMD or even a Skrull. I'm pretty sure Bendis has stated numerous times Tony will not be revealed as a Skrull.

My guess is JMS needed a government scapegoat for his Katrina issue and chose the most public and disliked Marvel character at the moment that is a part of the government - Tony Stark. There are a number of reasons for Thor to trash Tony these days, but everything in this issue just came off as Tony saying "BLARGH I AM THE GOVERNMENT BOW DOWN AND REGISTER GRRR" when he has never been really shown that way.

As for that Venom Wolverine thing, if you havent been keeping up to date, there is a large invasion of symbiotes coming in the pages of New and Mighty Avengers. This weeks New Avengers featured the start of it at the end of the book. It is not actually Venom, but clones or something of the symbiote. There shoudl be Carnage and other versions as well. Based on solicits it has something to do with Dr Doom and Morgan la Fay i think. Looks interesting, but dont let the cover / ad you pictured fool you into thinking Wolverine becomes Venom or it is the actual real Venom in the story.Kirk Warrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00458175001451977684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5937553510945482646.post-77039810962255580602007-09-15T18:22:00.000-07:002007-09-15T18:22:00.000-07:00Yeah I thought it was a little out of character of...Yeah I thought it was a little out of character of him to just jump in Thor's face like that, and you're right, he generally shows up with a small army of SHIELD officers nowadays. However, my glee for the beatdown is strictly because he is a major dickhead, and less an anti-registration stance. This was in my opinion a better, and much more sound, thrashing of Iron Man than the World War Hulk one.

Could it be, since it is the same writer on both, some purposeful differences so they can point to him later as a Skrull here? Or a LMD? Or it could just be crappy writing from a generally good writer.Adam Silfvenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04284783773009028499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5937553510945482646.post-85073470093699405982007-09-15T18:06:00.000-07:002007-09-15T18:06:00.000-07:00While I enjoyed the Iron Man / Thor fight, JMS too...While I enjoyed the Iron Man / Thor fight, JMS took far too many liberties with Tony's character. This is the worst Tony has been shown in any comic since Civil War began. This is not even the same Tony that was in JMS's Amazing Spider-Man last week. There he took a beat down from Spider-Man of all people and a verbal lashing for things he was not responsible for and still gave money to Peter for Aunt May's treatment. Peter was the one that betrayed him in CW and was a wanted criminal and so on and Tony still helped his friend out.

Tony would never have showed up alone, dispensed with pleasentries and just told Thor flat out to register. JMS simply wanted a government strawman for his anti-government issue that focused on the Katrina fiasco. Tony was the easy choice for this evil government figure JMS wanted for this issue.

Yes, people dont like Tony that much right now, but I hate the fact people are going nuts over this issue simply because he gets beat up and ignore the poorly contrived reasons for the fight and horrible characterization of Tony.

The fight itself was spectacular and the art was incredible. The reasons for and 'story' that accompanied it were not.Kirk Warrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00458175001451977684noreply@blogger.com
